VISIT OF DAIRY INSTRUCTORS.
The important Yisit of Messrs Cockayne and Clayton arranged for -by the Westland Progress League, should prove of great value to the district. The two gentlemen in their respective departments, occupy important positions, and are highly qualified to give the best information and the soundest advice. Messrs Cockayne and Clayton will arrive' hero on Saturday night, and will be under the guidance of Mr Dalgleish, Fields’ Instructor, during the tour of Westland which will extend over ten days.
The visit will open at Tvokatnhi on Monday, when the dairy factory will •be inspected in the forenoon, and an opportunity afforded the instructors to nieet the settlers and discuss the local problems relating to agricultural and dairying matters. In the afternoon sonie of the farms will be visited and the turnip crops and pastures inspected, and general advice given in relation to various matters, as also, in regard to the dairy herds. • The lectures will be given at nigh in the local hall. The lectures will deal with the necessity for adequate feeding and proper testing in the development of Westland daily farming, the main problems involved and suggestions regarding improvements in dairy farm management; crops suitable for West Coast- conditions! production, care, management and maintenance of dairy pastures, ’the agricultural side will be treated by Mr Coekavne, while Mr Clayton will deal with the dairy herds. The lectures will be fully illustrated with slides, and will, of course, be free. The tour of the district will be made according to the itinerary already published.
