ENQUIRER,— Copra is obtained from the cocoanut. The nut has a very hard woody shell, enclosing the nucleus or kernel, within which again is a milky liquid called cocoa-nut milk. Cocoa nut oil is obtained by pressure or boiling from the kernels, , which are first broken up into small pieces and dried in the sun, when they are known as eopperah or copra. It is estimated that 1000 full sized nuts will yield awards nf r>ooll> of copra, from which 2o gallons of oil should lie obtained. The nil is a i white solid substance at ordinary ! temperature with a peculiar, rath r disagreeable odour } from the volatile ; fatty acid it contains and a mild f taste. Fndor pressure it separates ! into a liquid and a solid portion. Ihc latter cocoa-stearin, being extensvelv used in the manufacture of canI dies. Cocoanut oil is also used in j the manufacture of marine soap, which forms a lather with sen water.
