SUDDEN DEATH.

MR A. IV. WEST, COBDEN

I A tragic sequel to the football match hit Cobdeij on Saturday afternoon was the death of Mr Arthur William West, the well-known train examiner lor the local section of, railways. The game was between the “Has Beens” (married men) and the present club team (single men). Mr West, who in his day was a. rep. player turned out to make a game of it. When returning home afterwards he remarked to a friend that, he was too old for the game now and that he did not feel at all well. He said he’d go home and have a lay down. When opposite the Police Station, however. he collapsed on; the road, and Constable Baird, who reached him first saw he was seriously ill. and sent for V doctor. Bv the time the medical aid arrived, unfortunately the sufferer-had expired and the doctor pronounced life extinct. The late Mr West, who was 40 years of age. and a married man. was a native of Greyiuoutli.. and was a ''popular and estimable eitfeen. and one who had no enemies. He leaves a ‘widow who will have general sympathy i„ her sudden loss. TTis father. Mr Ifenrv West, resides at Cobden. and deceased is also survived by several brothers and sisters including Messrs Frank West (Nelson chemist) ; Chardes West (Auckland!, and A. West, while another brother is Mr West, manager of Hie Reefton branch of the National Bank. Sisters of deceased are Mesdaines White (Cobden). Martin. (OreyliKintlit and Miss West.
