AUCKLAND, June 7 Any fears regarding the harmful nature of the snake supposed to have coma from the Wiltshire are dispelled by the museum curator (Mr Cheese- | Hum), who, on examination, identified : if as a water or sea snake, belonging to tiie common tropical Polynesian j species “hydrus platurus.” This Blink-* | although, found on the bench among j the debris from the wreck, had obvious- ] ly not come from the Wiltshire, as rro.ii , it very nature, it could not live on 1 shipboard, or dry land. ALLEGED PILLAGERS ARRESTED The customs officers engaged in coi |,.cling the dutiable . goods washed ashore, found the crews ol two launches said to le fishing boats, alongside the wreck- at midnight. The men are said to have been ill possession of certain properly that came out 'of the Wiltshire. As a result four men were sirr sled, anil the launches were detained.
