Perry (Mayor) presided, and in the course of his remarks expressed the general regret that was felt in the town at the coming departure of Mr Hickson who had identified .himself in many v.ays with the public life of tintown during his stay and had proved a valuable citizen whom they regretted to lose. The Mayor’s remmks were endorsed and extended by a numb.'r o’" gen; h-mt-ii. the Mayor then asking acceptance of a substantial purse, as a mark of the esteem and appreciation felt for Mr Hickson whose health was then drunk with enthusiasm. Mr H.ckson replied in a feeling speech, expt ossing his regiet at leaving the town where he had spent many happy hours.
