Sea Sconts

SYDNEY, May 24

A gay scene in Neutral liav on Saturday demonstrated the progress that is being made by the Sea Scout organisation in Sydney. A year or two ago a gentleman, who lias a distinguished war record, started the movement and made it practically a branch of ' the Boy Scouts’ Association. With a full sized (lag pole and a wireless equipment which he erected at his own house, be taught a group of boys tin* international signals and the drill and other essentials of naval seamanship, at the same time inculcating the high standards of morals and honour which give the Boy Scout movement so admirable an influence upon youngsters. To be a sea scout ft boy. must have attained the age of 1.5 years, be oft 2in in height, and l>e aide to swim .50 yards in a woollen singlet, trousers and Mocks. On Saturday an important event marked an extension in the activities of the movement which threw all the bright-faced boys into the seventh heaven of delight. They became the proud possessors of a cutter. It was presented by Mr S. M. Dempster and otner members of the Boyal Prince Alfred Yacht Squadron. and lienee forward actual training in seamanship is to lie included in the other benefits which the movement bestows.
