MATERIAL LOST IN WILTSHIRE

WELLINGTON, June 2. The opening of the ptirn tunnel is likely to he delayed owing to tho wreck of the Wiltshire, which has on hoard material from Babcocks for tho steam plant. r It is just possible that some of the electrical plant from the English Electric Company was shipped by the W shire. Some of the plant was ready a fortnight before the M lltslure saik from England, hut, so far, advices ol its shipment have not been received Tho Babcock plant could ho quickly duplicated by cable but if olectr.cs plant is on board, the delay will bo more serious. AUCKLAND, June 4. Tho Public Works Minister, the Hon. Mr Coates to-da y informed a reporter that among tho cargo lost on the Wiltshire was a considerable amount of electrical equipment for the work in progress at the Otira Tunnel. Mr Coates emphasised the, difficuties that his department had had to contend with, also intimating that tlio loss of equipment on the Wiltshire would also hamper matters somewhat.
