A Parliamentary party, embracing lists and Progressives, arc undertaking a twelve days tour of Murray lands where the Government proposes carrying out a colonising plan. Clark ox-member for Wanimernwa is lodging a protest with the Government against the election of Mr Ashford (Independent Nationalist) on the grounds that the returning officer at Wammorawa wrongly distributed lhe re cretin s. Clark maintains'he should have been elected. It is understood the case will be a test for other seats. DAY LABOUR OR CONTRACT.
SYDNEY. May JO. A speed meetng of the Health Committee of the City Council decided not to discontinue city cleaning by day labour, in favour of the contract system. Alderman Nicholls who previoiislv stated the Council could save fifty thousand sterling by the abolition of day labour asked by fbo Chairman for an outline of the scheme, said he had in: definite proposal to make beyond that tenders should be invitecl for the woik.
