An area adjacent to the South Strand, was a scene of the fiercest fighting, several people being wounded. An Ulster “special” constable was afterwards ambushed and shot dead.

A large force of Sinn Feiners attacked Ballywater Park, which is I/ord Dunleatli’s seat, in County Down, but the police forces, after a determined fight, heat off the raiders.
