Doctor Walter Davenport of the American Relief Administration announces that Doctor Kriteh, woman director at Sokoliilchersky Hospital Laboratory, has discovered a typhus germ, isolating thecoccus which disc or biscuit shaped, much like pneumococcus and typhus. The germ is found in the brain tissue and spleen of lot) cases of typhus an hour after death. The innoeulation ot guinea pigs invariably produced symptoms of typhus. It is hoped the vaccine would develop from Kriteh’s discovery.

At- Cambridge, in Massachusetts, Mr A.'IC. Dunbar, Research Engineering Fellow of Harvard University, and a workmad in an adjoining room, were killed, and seven students were injured by an oxygen explosion during Mr Dunbar's experiment with liquid air.
