University Commemoration Day was celebrated with the usual procession through the city. Exhibits burlesqued various topical subjects, without the vulgar suggestions which characterised the previous celebrations. Great crowds lined the route of the procession, which was loudlv cheered.
FENTON MURDER. MELBOURNE, May I
Mrs Fenton was a noted locality, and was one of the original members of the beautiful eight ballet that made its dehut in the first production of “So Long, Betty.” She met Fenton two and a half years ago. and fell in love with him. Her mother thought her daughter, who was then 17. too young to marry. Fenton followed her to Sydney. where they were secretly married. Mrs Fenton left on a tour of New Zealand a month later, hut she broke her contract and returned to Sydney. The marriage proved unhappy, ending, in the wife leaving the husband five months ago. aml taking her baby daughter, a month old.
