described by manufacturers as “Jlottled sunlight”, is the work of an Italian engineer, Juan Tomadelli. The secret of its mysterious property, states the Tribune, is cosely guarded, those responsible for its manufacture even stating that armed detectives are night and day around the experimental fac*—*ory in New Jersey. It is described in general terms by its inventor as U' ‘‘self-sustaining, incandescent electric light that will burn a long time without connection with any source of electric supply other than itself. “The light itself,” he adds, “is radiated from a minute metallic candle of secret composition.” The lamp is also said to produce its light without the generation of heat, the temperature of the hull) never rising 'above lOdeg. Fahrenheit, instead of lOOdeg. in the case of an prdinary metal filament lamp. It can he made of any size or power, from the household lamp to powerful arc lights suitable for kinema projection and street lighting. The cost of the lamp for household purposes is estimated at about 12s. According to the Tribune, it is expected *t!> appear on the market this summer.
