Girls Who are Examples. It is an important fact which every woman does not realise, that everyone •s an example to someone else! Many a girl cannot imagine, to whom she can possibly be an example—but, nevertheless there is always someone who notices her, even if it be unobtrusively. The force of example is a lesson to inculcate in children, so that as they grow up they realise the necessity of seting a good example to those with whom they come in contact.
North island mails and passengers j connected with the West Goast express lit Christchurch this morning. I The West Coast agents for the Ford ears and trucks, Messrs Mark Spiot and Co., have just been instructed to reduce prices substantially. The Ford ears are therefore now reduced from £225 to £203, while Ford trucks are reduced from £250 to £230. A very successful euchre and dance was held at- St. Mary’s Club Rooms last evening. The prizes which were valuable were keenly contested, The first ladies prize, a fine quality supper cloth donated by Mrs W. Stewart was won by Mrs M. McGavin, the second ladies prize donated by Mrs G. . Hatch, a Langley vase, was won by Mrs H. Fitzgerald who kindly presented this prize to the committee for future competition. The first gents prize a joint of meat, donated by Mr Jns Duncan, was won by Mr H. Harker, the second gents prize was won by M J. Taylor. Miss Moita Pascoe supplied the music for the dance which was under the charge of Mr Thus. Rouse and was kept going until midnight: That the public appreciate good value is quite evident by the number of people who visit “Paterson’s” when in town. We have still a few sample stockings in cashmere and silk, also men’s socks, and if you have not already purchased your winter requirements do so at once while you have the 1 opportunity: A Lather consignment of blaiikets just to hand in white and grey.
