GENOA CONFERENCE

PARIS, May 15The “Petit Journal” says the agreement reached at Genoa is almost miraculous,' since it satisfies everybody. The French Government is satisfied because it obtains a postponement of the Conference without responsibility for a rupture. Lloyd George is satisfied because in a month’s time the Conference will begin again at Hague under the form of a convention of Allied Experts and at the same time, the Loinmission of Russian experts will sit. is what Lloyd George wished. The Governments represented at Hague will undertake to abstain from propaganda and all kind of aggression, so that England gains.

Lloyd George interviewed said he agreed to the Hague meeting. It would be a prolongation of the Genoa Conference, but would only deal with Russia. Its work wohltl be merely a preliminary exploration with a possibility of an agreement with Russians and they would meet other powers after 26th. June on a footing of absolute equality, but if the Russians refused to participate we would have nothing more to say If the agreement with Russia were concluded he Imped to convert the truce into a permanent pact. Nansen, in outlining to the Council of the League of Nations scheme to evacuate fifteen thousand Russian refugees from Constantinople said when the necessary funds were available he would discuss with the Australian and Canadian Governments the possibility of sending a great number of refugees to Australia and Canada.
