CAR RENTIER WINS

LEWIS OUTKD IN FIRST ROUND. (Received this day at 11.30 a.in.) LONDON, May H. Carpentier won in the first round. On opening, Lewis immediately rushed in and the men clinched. The referee stopped the fight and warned both. Lewis again rushed i in and caught Carpentier with a I couple of lefts and a right. Carpentier held and was warned. Carpentier tried with his right and just missed one to the jaw. Again they clinched and on the break Carpentier with a right to jaw, sent Lewis to the hoards where he was counted out. The spectators clamoured and there were many calls of foul and some hooting, as Carpentier returned to the dressing room.
