Messrs Matson and Co. report as fol- l( lows regarding tlieir stock sale yestoiday : '] Store Sheep- A smaller yarding than last week, and prices generally trere a little easier. Best irirwhrd Tethers from 16s Gd to It’s; others from l4s to 16s; Host 4,6, arid 8 tooth ewes from IPs to 22s 4d; Best rape lambs from 14s to 17s; others from 12s. Store lambs from Ss 6d to 11s; aged and inferior ewes from 7s to 10s. Most of the yarding was cleared at miction. Store Cattle— A fairly large yarding of all classes being well represented, : mostly small lots, including a few drafts of well grown steers and heifers. A good attendance of buyers and competition, if anything, showed improvement. . Heifers are still in good demand. Quotations are practically the same as last week. Beef—One of the largest yardings wo have had for years, and there was a. considerable quantity of eow heel and rough sorts of steers included in the entry.. There were also some excellent lines' of cattle offered. Owing to the yarding being much in excess of butchers’ requirements the market was | easier all round, although a good clear- ■ a nee was affected at auction. Prime I steers, £lO os to £l3 10s; extra, £l6 os; medium, £7 6s to £10; lighter and inferior. £6 6s to £r 4s. Prime heifeis £6 10s to £3, extra to £lO 10s; others £4 lo £6; prime cows £6 to £i los; others £2 10s to £4 Pis 6d. Mutton—Another very large yarding mostly cues, including some excellent quality and also some good lines of wether:-.. 1m cozing buyers were operat-
ing U.roirghout, hut with hardly the same ginger as last week’s consignments. The market was slightly easier all round. Prime wethers 21s to 275; extra 295, medium 18s to ‘ills 'Od ; prime owes 17s 6d to 21s; extra to 26s Pel; medium 14s to 17s lighter, down to 10s. Another large yarding of lambs but the quality generally was indifferent and showing signs of the season’s coming to a close. The market opened up easier thin last week but improver! somewhat towards the end, especially for host quality. The average over all price was 7id to Bd.
