Robertson, ex-manager at Rua toria for Tuparoa Trading Coy., pleaded guilty to fraudulently omitting to make entries. It was stated in evidence that accused collected £4BO, which was rot recorded in the Company’s books. He was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. FOUL TACTICS. CHRISTCHURCH, May 10. At a meting of the New Zealand Trotting Association, the following motion was carried:—“That the attention of Clubs be called to the prevalence of foul driving, crossing, boring and the improper use of the whip. In. the opinion of the Association, a more serious view should he taken of these offences and where a ease is sheeted home, a disqualification should he meted out to the offender.” SENTENCE FOR THEFT. AUCKLAND, May 10. Thomas Fearson. aged 25, whose appeal against Tils conviction for theft from the person and receiving was dismissed by the Appeal Court, has been sentenced to eighteen months’ hard labour. COMAIUNITY SINGING. WELLINGTON, May 10. For the community singing at the Opera House to-day, over three thousand attended, and many were unable to gain admission. Arthur AVillimn Page, found guilty of manslaughter in connection with the death of Gladys Hutchinson at Pipiron, was sentenced to 20 years hard labour. Justice Stringer said he could not regard the crime as other than most callous and brutal, divided only by a thin partition from actual murder.
