West Coast Fire Brigades
CONFERENCE AT 11EEFTON;
The annual meeting of the West Coast Fire Brigades’ Association was held in tho Reef ton County Council office on Saturday morning. President Browning (Denniston) presiding, the other executive officers al9o being present : Vice-Presidents McKeodiW (Westport) and Past President Deere (Greymouth). The President, in opening the conference, welcomed the delegates of the West Coast Brigades to Reefton. It was resolved on the motion of Foreman Williams (Hokitika), seconded by Captain Bright (Cobden) that a championship shield be procured for competition, and the purchase of same he left to the President and Past President, the first contest to take place, from 1923. It was resolved on the motion or Foreman White (Greymouth), seconded by Captain Macfarlane (Kumara), that the invitation of the Hokitika Brigade for the next demonstration be accepted. It was resolved on the motion cf Lieut. Smith (Denniston), seconded by Lieut. MeKendry (Westport),'that the shield points be as follows: Five men events 12, 8,6, 4; three men events, 7 5,3, 2; one man events, 4,3, 2, 1. The Secretary presented a copy of rules drawn up by him which with a few alterations were on the motion of Captain Macfarlane (Kumara) and Superintendent Browning (Denniston) adopted. The election of officers resulted: President, Captain Reseigh (Reefton); Vice-President Lieut. MeKendry (Westport), Foreman White (Greymouth). and Foreman Williams (Hokitika); Secretary—J. Walton (Greymouth). A hearty vote of thanks to the retiring officers was carried by acclamation, to which Superintendent Browning and Past President Deere replied.
