From Christchurch to Greymouth by Motor.
It is no slight achievement to have brought a Pantomime Company from Christchurch to Greymoutli with its ■ scenery and effects, but this was accomplished by the Knikoura Motor Coy. Ltd., on Sunday and Monday last—a feat of which this well-known motor linn should be justly proud. The Pantomime was the Stanley McKay Company, now delighting large audiences at the Princess Theatre. The Coy. with their outfit travel in a 25 seater charabanc and an 8 seater Cadillac. The charabanc which has been an interesting item for inspection by Westlanders, cost £2OOO, and this is its maiden trip. Coming down the Otira Gorge the break was not used once, simply low gear and compression. The manager of the Kailcoura Motor Coy., Mr McDonald, is a thorough live wire, perhaps his varied experiences during the war period making him so, for after being wounded in France three times (including a bayonet wound in the abdomen) he was transferred to Persia and was in charge of the motor transport there, where lie had many adventures with Persian bandits, in addition to the common enemy.
