ABJINCTON STOCK MARKET. AN IMPROVED MARKET. (By Velegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their slock sale yesterday Store Sheep.—The market for quantity was about the same as last week, hut was composed of mostly inferior quality, excepting wethers, which were well represented by some especially good lots. All classes of sheep showed an advance on last week’s rates, and most of the yarding was cleared at auction. Best wethers up to 20s 7d ; best sound mouth ewes up to 225; rape ewes from 14 s fid to lfis. >

Store cattle.—Another large yarding and *a good attendance of buyers. The market all round showed an improvement on last week’s prices. One verygood line of Hereford suckers made £4 7s; 4 year old steers £7 4s; 3 yenr ditto £4 12s fid to £5; 2 year ditto £2 to .£3 os ; yearling ditto 20s to 33d ; 2 year old heifers to £5 6s; 13 months ditto to £4 15s; smaller £2 12s fid to £3 5s ; cows 10s to 255. Beef. —Another large yarding. All good quality showed a decided improvement, but medium and inferior, if anything, was easier than last sale. Good heifers sold exceptionally well. Prime steers £lO 10s to £l4 ss; extra to £lO 15s ; medium steers £7 12s fid to £lO 5s prime heifers £6 to £8 10s; extra to £l3 15s ; others £4 10s to £5 15s. Prime cows £5 to £7 12s fid, others £3 5s to £4 15s. Mutton.— Another large yarding, mostly ewes and few outstanding lots wero offered. The market for heavyewes and wethers was firm at last week’s rates, but medium and lighter sorts were easier. Freezing buyers although operating throughout, did not show the same keenness as last week. Prime wethers 21s fid to 29s 3d ; extra to 32s fid ; medium 18s fid to 21s ; others down to 15s. Ewes in the same proportion. A large yarding of lambs and the quality- generally- was indifferent, the market being easier all round. The average over all,prices,was about Bd.
