Anglican Synod.
MR CUTTEN’3 VIEWS. AUCKLAND, May 3. What he termed the dangerous level of the moral tone of the community, was referred to by Mr E. C.Cutten, S. M., who addressed the Anglican Synod to-day on behalf of the Young Citizens’ League. Mr Cutten traced the work of both the civil and erimjn.il courts, which dealt with many cases of dishonesty, and also those showing impunity of life. He said that the condition of the community showed a terrible state of inefficiency from a material viewpoint, and a very terrible state of affairs from a. spiritual standpoint. The Primate, in replying, said that no subject gave the Church more anxiety than the present condition of the Dominion. They were very thankful for any institution, such as the Young Citizens’ League, which recognised these conditions, and tried to improve them. He was at one s ith the deputation in desiring to bring a. better tone into social life, through the medium of the children; and the people who were working for those ends had the support of every member of the Synod. 1
