Last Wednesday evening the staff of j the Hokitika Mental Hospital, and j their friends gave a presentation sue ml to Air F. '!'■ Riordnn, oil-the eve of his departure for Forirun. Some twentyfive couples were present, and a very enjoyable evening was spent in the .

“Little Theatre.” The music, was in the capable hands of the staff orchestra, assisted by Air Thorpe (violin), and Air Earle Breeze was Af.C. Air -M* Henrnhan (Chairman of the Staff Committee) thanked those present for their attendance, and those who had given their services so generously. Air Air F. F. Afulrenina.il (staff representative) in making the presentation paid a glowing tribute to the reliability and sincerity of the guest of the evening, whose knowledge of ATcntnl Hospital Affairs was appreciated by the Staff Committee. He (Air Riordnn) was a man of unusual reticence and reserve, hut when once the barl 'ers of his .shyness were broken down, there was revealed a very kindly nature. and a desire to understand. In pcrseiiting him with a handsome travelling rug. the speaker conveyed the good wishes of the staff, and assured Mr Riordnn, if the occasion arose, of a “oned mile faille” from the nurses and attendants of Sca.vicw. Air Riordnn, ivlio was visibly impressed by bis reception, thanked the -staff for their present and kind wishes. Auld i nog Syne and the National Anthem concluded an enjoyable evening.
