SCULLING.
Articles in connection with a match between J. Casey, of Australia, and Archie Sharpe, of Wanganui, were signed this afternoon, ffjhov provide for the match being for £SO a-side, and it will be rowed over the same course and at the same hour as Tucsdav’s race.
A great deal of interest is being taken in this match, which should provide a remarkably good race. Both scullers are young men who give much promise. They can both row well, and will be- evenly matched as to weight. Sharpe has given evidence of being a very fast man, and he appears to be able to row out the full course now better than ever lie could. A win for him would mean that ho would get other matches, and perhaps find the hacking later on in a race for the championship of the world.
Casey is also a very fine sculler .Ho has done a lot of rowing, and the form he has shown while pacing Paddon stamps him as one who is likely to niako his mark. On paper this looks ono of tho host matches that could possibly bo made outside a world’s championship contest, and there is sure to be a big crowd to witness it on Saturday.
