CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as tallows regaiding their slock sale vestei* day:

Store Sheep A small yarding and the market was much the same ns last week except for nil classes of lambs, which were easier. Best lor ward wethers from 16s to 19s Id. others Irom I ts. Best rape lambs up to Pis 3d, other lanths from 10s (id. Best sound mouth owes up to 2ls, others from 14s 6d to 16s 3d. The market generally had a firm tone.

Store cattle A fairly large yarding and quality generally was good, hut not many big cattle were offering. A good demnnfi all round especially lor good soi ls of young heifers. Old cows were hard to sell. Prices—3vr. steers to C 4 ss; 2yrs. ditto t2 10s to £3 2s 6d ; yearling ditto, £1 2s 6(1 to £1 15s; yearlings and 18 months heifers £3 to £3 10s; cows 15s to 255. Beef —A smaller yarding than last week, but the quality again was very indifferent. The market especially for best stuff was considerably firmer. Medium, and inferior sorts did not show the same advance and towards the end of the sale all classes were slightly easier. Prime steers £lO to £l2 15s; extra to £l6 2s 6(1; medium £7 10s to £9 10s; others £5 to £7 ss; prime heifers £6 to £8 ss; extra to £ll ss; others £3 10s to £5 15s. Best cows £5 10s to £8 Is; others £2 ]os to £5. Mutton—A. smaller yarding, mostly ewes. The mar set was firm all round and if anything showed an improvement. Freezing buyers were again operating keenly for lighter quality. Prime wethers 22s fid to 28s ; extra to

32s’ 6d ; medium 19s to <-is 9d ; others 15s 6d to 19s; best ewes 18s 6d to 20s; extra to 235; prime 13s 6d to 18s; others to 9s 6tl. Another fair yarding of lambs which showed a further improvement realizing about Bjjd over all, all round.
