AR ATI PH A FAT STOCK SALE. At yesterday’s fixture at the above yards 300 sheep and lambs and 60 head of cattle were submitted to public eompeition. There were not so many buyers as usual present at the fixture ,no doubt the broken week caused by the holidays being responsible, although the fixture was arranged by the butchers themselves. In consequence of reports from outside markets to the effect that prime beef could be bought much cheaper than at the local yards, buyers held off from bidding over a certain value per hundred. With regard to sheep, of which there was a full yarding, the drop was not so noticeable and prices were equal to those recorded at former sales per pound. Messrs IV. Jeffries and Co. record the following sales. On account of Mr Jas Thomson, 30 owes at 17., 23 lambs at 15s; on account of Mr Henry Heveldt, 33 wethers a, 18s, 21 lambs at 16s and 17 ewes at 18s; on account of Air P. Olson, 34 wethers at 19s 6d, and 16 ewes at 17s 6d; a pen of 62 fat and forward lambs on account of Air James Nolan were passed at 12s; on account of Air W. O’Brien, 56 fat sheep at 19s. On account of Air T. A. Condon, 4 bullocks at £9 10s, 4 at £B, 2 at £7 7s 6d, 2 at £7 ss, 1 at £7 2s 6d; on account of Air Jas Donovan, 6 light steers at £5 12s 6d, 1 heifer at £4, 2 steers at £2 10s, lat £2. Several peris of the above vendors’ cattle were passed not reaching the settlers’ reserve; on account Air Stop forth, 3 vealers at £2.
