TIMBER PRICES
CONTROL TO END WELLINGTON, April 13 The Department of Industries and Commerce advises that as the supply of timber is now in excess of the demand, and prices are being regulated by competition, the Government has decided that the control of prices shall be dis continued immediately. EXPORT OF timber. WELLINGTON, April 14. The following amending regulations relating to the export of timber are gazetted: “Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the timber regulations of the 6th day of August 1918, as amended on the 18th. day of February. 1919, the Board of Trade shall not without the consent of the Minister in charge of the regulations permit the export of any rimu, kauri, of beech, timber produced in New Zealand during the periods mentioned in the schedule ~, excess of the quantities specified in that schedule for the said periods. Schedule, Part I—Maximum quail-' Lily of rinni that may he exported by sawmills engaged in export trade prior to December 31, 1918, periods April, I>2 to March 31, 1923, 15,000,000 ft: ApHl, 1923, to March 31, 1924, 12,000, 000 ft; April 1924, to March 31, 1925, 9,000,000 ft; April 1925, to March 31, 1926, 6,000.000 ft. Part 11. -Maximum quantity of rimu that may be exported by sawmills not engaged in the export trade prior to December 31, 1918: -Period April 1, 1922, to March 31, 1923, 1,000,000 ft; subsequent years nil. Part ll—Maximum. quantity of beech that may be exported periods April 1, 1922, to March 31, 1923, 2,500.000 ft; each succeeding year, 2,500,000 ft.
