Amendments in the regulations relating to .secondary schools are gazetted Under the new regulations it is provided that unless the Director of induration is satisfied that an increased attenda.nee (puilifying a school tor higher grade is ))entvutent. he "my direct that the grade . f the school H tj■,11 | K - raised only provisionally, and subsequently if the increase*! a-t-tend-mice is not maintained, lie may. place tin- schorl in the grade in which it was classified previously: also, that it iueunistances make it expedient in tt!i, )n of the board and the Minister that modification of the stuffing of school as provided in the previous sub-clause is reasonable or necessary, tin Minister may authorise the board to modify the stall' in such a _ manner and for such period as lie thinks fit. provided that the total payments for salaries and allowances are not thereby increased. Provision is made that if at any Lime the grade of a school is reduced, the principal shall for a period of three years after such reduction continue to receive the same salary US if no r- dmtimi had taken place; that every assistant teacher who is appointed to any position .shall on his appointment receive the minimum of (.lie grade salary for such position unless the director, on the recommendation of tin- inspector, .approves ol a higher commencing salary within grade I ; and that no applicant shall lii> eligible for appointment to the position of principal unless lie is qualified to lie classified as an assistant in Grade A.
