Meeting of Householders
A RAH UR A ROAD. The annual meeting of householders was held on the 12th in si, a fair attendance being present. Mr A. Richards was voted to the chair. The balance sheet for the year was read and confirmed. The teachers’ annual report was read and approved. „ A circular from the N.Z. Educational Institute for consideration was read and the following resolution passed : That this meeting of householders of the Arahura Road district are of opinion : Cl) That it is false economy to cut down the educational vote. (2) That the attention of the Government be drawn to the difficulties under which hack block children and tlieii teachers in grades I and II schools are placed. Cl) That inexperienced female teachers should not he asked to go to these schools, hut that it he made a condition precedent, of promotion that assistants from the larger schools 'should put in a period in charge of these small schools.
(!) That while giving the N.Z.I'LI, every credit for an earnest desire to further educational matters, we think same more effective steps than than the reiteration of long-winded platitudes, should be taken by this body. It was also resolved to forward copies . >' i]|.- above resolution to the Director of Education and one to the Secretary, Xc,v Zealand Educational Institute, Wellington.
Nominations were invited tor election of a new committee, eight nominations being received lor five seats, the f Flowing being elected: —S. Honey, M. Finch, J. Muir, J. Finch and A. Richards.
