COLLINS ATTACKED. (Received This Dav at 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, April 17
Collins’ party occupied four ears in returning at midnight iroin the meeting, when they were stepped in Parnell Sonare. About twenty men rushed out from the neighbouring house square which the rebels had occupied. Officers j rushed towards the ears, opening lire. | Collins who was walking across the ' square fired on the attackers from the rear. One man fired at Collins several l imes at (Jose quarters without hitting him. Collins chased and captured a prisoner, who said he was acting utidci orders, but was astonished when Collins revealed his identity. Collins he'd. vc* the attackers were ordered to kidnap, not to kill him. ■pile General commanding the rebel forces in possession of the Law Courts denies a plot to kidnap, and states Collins party drew up outside the lehil offices and opened fire first.
ATTACK ON COLLINS. LONDON, April 17
A Dublin official message states Michael Collins and party were attacked and fired at in Parnell Square. The fire was returned, and one assailant uas captured with a revolver pouch in his possession. Reggersbuch Barracks were attacked during the night unsuccessfully. armed robberies. j (Received This Day at 10.15 a.m.) I LONDON, April 17. Twenty armed robberies from small shops occurred in Belfast during the week-end.
