The morning broke dull and threatening with showers at intervals, but towards noon the prospects brightened. A large crowd is in town and Hie launches following the race are likely to hr well filled, but the threatening weather will probably affect the attendance on the river hanks. Hadfiehl is firm favorite, but Paddon reports himself feeling well to-day and bis party expect him to put up a big race. Ihe general opinion is that the first *wo miles will he stubbornly contested, but Hudfield’s superior condition should then carry him through to victory.
