[tiv I'M mu lIACU—I’MU CRUSH ASSOCIATION | WELLINGTON, April 12. ’

Tile annual meeting of members of the Wellington branch of the Post and Telegraph OHieers’ Association was held to-night and was largely attended. The formal meeting was held in private, but « discussion on the question oi affiliation with the Alliance of Labour was taken in open meeting. Air Coombs, general secretary, addressed those present on the question.

After some discussion in which no serious opposition was raised to the proposal,’a resolution expressing confidence in the general secretary .n c | the executive was passed almost unanimously, as was a motion confirming the action of the executive in connection with the .Alliance of Labour, and instructing them to proceed with affiliation. An amendment to shelve tho matte? indefinitely was defeated, only four voting in fav our of it. The following is from tlie annual report o| the branch: “Alliance of Labour. —Unable to obtain redress from the Department, and forced to the conclusion that something more than mere justice of otti claims was necessary to obtain rheir recognition bv idle Government the executive : wns compelled to seek < .her means of strengthening our position. Members are therefore being asked to decide by ballot whether they are prepared to link up their forces with the Alliance of Labour. This matter doe: not properly enter into the review of last year’s work. Your commmittee only asks that •whatever the result of the ballot, members shall remember that absolute solidarity of membership, is more es sential at this time than ever before,”
