Seinenoff finally turned up and in tho absence of bail bond he was sent to prison. His wife offered her jewels to secure a bond but they were not sufficient. The Senatorial Investigation committee continuing hearings and is recording the testimonies of various witneses charging Semenofl with most terrible crimes in Siberia.
PRESS TRIBUTE. ■ NEW YORK, April 14
The “New York Times” commenting on the death of Sir Ross Smith points out lie was a greater flier than Alcock and adds that both men were noted for coolness and dexterity, yet each in an unaccountable way lost control of 'his machine. The conclusion must be that an airplane is a sensitive, erratic machine which on occasions baffles the most alert and resourceful pilot. The New York “World” calls the death a tragedy of unusual fatefulness even for an aviator. The “Herald” says it is the irony of the air, that it will lot a flier do things seemingly impossible, and then kill him when attempting a trifle.
PAYMENT OF WAGES. SYDNEY, April 15
The High Court by a majority decided that the Commonwealth Arbitration Court had power to make binding an award ordering Steamship Owners’ Association and its members to pay members of the federated Seamens Union of Australasia engaged in interstate trade at shorter periods than one month. The Chief Justice and .Justice Duffy dissented on the ground that such shorter payments were inconsistent with the expressed terms of the seamen’s agreement.

Glorious weather- tor the holiday, which was of the usual semi-religious observance. The chief attractions were the agricultural show and picnics with a crowded attendance.
