WESTLAND HOSPITAL BOARD
MONDAY, APRIL 10th
A special meeting was at 7 p.m. Present—Mossrs: J'. J. Breeze (Chairman), G. H. Blank, J. Ritchie. G. Davidson, H. Monk, IV. H. Chinn, and L. H. Morel.
Mr C. E. Allen (Government Architect) was also present. The Chairman stated the business was to deal with tenders for the erection of the new wing and administration quarters at Westland Hospital. TENDERS. Tenders were opened as follows: J. Drake, Hokitika £13,828 10s 6d. H. Bignell. Greymouth £15,823. H. Williamson, Christchurch £15,836. W. Hodges. Masterton, £18,496. J. W. AldertOn ; Wanganui £18,976. F. Sotheran, Cobden £16,911 19s 3d. Augur and Morris £19,516. Geo White, Linwood £20,949. It was resolved to accept the tender of J. Drake for £13,828 10s 6d., Mr Davidson dissenting. ATessrs Blank and Breeze were appointed to sign the contract, the Board’s solicitor to draw up the agreement with contractor and bondsmen. The provision of an inspector of works was referred to Messrs Blank and Davidson to arrange. (We have been officially informed today that owing to the conditions of the tenders not being complied with, no tender has been accepted.—-Ed.) DOCTOR FOR KUMARA. An application for the position of Medical Superintendent- at Kumara was received from J. Spencer Daniel, M. 8., B-S. Edinburgh of Christchurch. It wag resolved to forward the application to the Health Department and the Kumara Committee.
