Hokitika Returned Soldiers' Association.
The monthly meeting of the Executive of the local Branch of Returned Soldiers Association held last evening j at 7.30 |».m. Present —Messrs D- J- I Evans (in the Chair), J. Callen, T. Stuart, H. Shand, F. McGregor, W. Smith, W. Head, E. ghaunon, W. P. Morgan, { and Tims. Kerr (Secretary). The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. inward CORRESPONDENCE. A notification was received from the Secretary of District Headquarters of Returned Soldiers Association, Christchurch with regards to a “Cup trophy” open to all Returned Soldiers to be fired at Red Cliffs, during Easter week. Re Poppy Day.—lt was reported by the President that the meeting of ladies held by the Mayoress at the Town Hall during the last month for the purpose of forming a Committees to carry out tlie sale of Poppies prior to An z ac Day mot with great satisfaction. The Secretary was instructed to write to District Headquarters for a further thousand poppies. Re Anzae Ball.—lt was resolved to hold a Ball on the 4 28th of April. A Social Committee was formed consisting of the following members: —Messrs J. Cut-bush, H. Shand, W. Smith, T. Lynch, M. O’Driscoll and W. P. Morgan. tl was resolved that a ladies’ committee be formed. A meeting of ladies will be held in the Town Hall on the 14th insl at .4 p.m. ft was moved that the Social Committee approach Mr Joyce with regard to making arrangements to engage his oichestra for the Ball. It was resolved that the Secretary he instructed to write to the Conductor of the local hand asking for its attendance on the evening of the hall.
Re Anzae Day.-It was moved that the local -R.S.A. supply a firing party on Anzae D a y. It is hoped that ail Returned Soldiers will take part, in the parade on that day. The programme for A n zac Day will be published later. A hearty vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
