AMUSEMENTS.

—• , POLLARD’S PICTURES.

On to-morrow, Wednesday evening, Pollards will present at the Princess Theatre, B. A. Rolfe’s great production—in picture form “Madonnas and Men.” It is one of the most powerful stories of the age—and opens in

the amphitheatre of ancient Rome when that city was steeped in moral degradation. It shows how a nation is known by the way it treats its women, and coming down to modern days, there is told a powerful story

hinging on this age old 'principle. The story likens the lusts and pleasures of ancient Rome to the pleasures of modern New York, with a significance that will be appreciated to tbe full.

An all-star cast is featured in the production. It is the elaborate and massive production that likens the amusements, desires and lust of ancient Rome to those of modern times, and has scored one of the greatest hits in the history of motion pictures. As wonderful scene after scene is unreeled, the spectator soon realises that he is' seeing the one great feature picture, a photodrama that will live for ever because of its remarkable story, its wonderful production,’ end its

praiseworthy acting. On Thursday evening a huge double programme will be 'presented—when “The 'Marriage of William Ashe” starring May Allison, and “Diamonds Adrift” featuring Earle Williams in the principal character from the popular magazine of the same name by Fred J. Jackson.

McLEAN’S PI OTURES

“THE WHISTLE” TO-NIGHT. Mr McLean presents to-night another capital programme headed by the Paramount Special starring the popular Bill Hart in “The Whistle,” a fine five-reeled feature. It is a stirring picture, full of incidents of a most interesting nature. A Burton Holmes travelogue, an Australian Gazette and a laughable comedy completes a fine programe. The full orchestra will supply incidental music.
