THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.
TrtE Obvious, It is obvious that Germany must be given a very long time in which to pay eer debts to the Allies, and the prohibition against German goods being imported must be abandoned. Something must be done to stabilise German currency, and the Germans given a chance to recover—this not from motives ol sentiment or pity, but for the economic benefit of the world. A lack of purchasing power on the part of one important section ol the world’s population reacts upon and is reflected in the purchasing power of the world as a whole. There cannot be prosperity -n one direction while there is poverty in another.—Mercantile Gazette.
