BOXING.

AUSTRALIAN ANB N.Z. CARLE ASSOCIATION. AUSSIE BURNS IN ENGLAND. LONDON, April 6. Frank Bums, the Australian boxer, has won his first fight in England, defeating Davies. Mr Lucas, manager of the Australian team of boxers in England, says: Frank Bums has not yet worried thus far with the climate. His thumb was .so bad on Saturday when he beat Davies that it was thought it would bo necessary to postpone the fight, and did remarkably well in the circumstances.

The “Daily News” says that Burns was most elusive. His dodging and feinting had Davie bewildered. The crowd frequently applauded Burns’s genius in evading.

The “Star” heads its report:— “Frankie Bums wins with one hand.”

The “Pall Mall Gazette” says Burns possibly is Australia’s greatest boxing star since Les Darcy. “Burns more than justified his reputation. He made bis debut in trying circumstances, boxing one-handed, which spoke volumes for his pluck and skill. Burns is clearly the best boxer Australia has sent out for a long time. He is an attractive artist, and wo want to see more of him.”

(Jock is in perfect fettle and in readiness to fight Beckett, The newspapers predict that Beckett has less chance of heating Cook than eight months ago, when a contest was almost arranged.
