ANOTHER SHOOTING AFFRAY

MAN AND WOMAN KILLED. MELBOURNE, March 2"

The epidemic of domestic shooting affrays in Melbourne is becoming more serious. With another double tragedy to-dav, five people have died and three wounded —’two seriously—within a week.

The scene of to-day’s tragedy was a small grocer’s shop, occupied by Annie Pascoe, in Melrose street, Nortli Melbourne.

Shortly after 1.30 p.m. .neighbours wore startled by tlie reports of revolver shots, and discovered Mrs Pascoe—who was 45 years of ago—lying dead in a pool of blood on the floor of the shop. She had a bullet wound in her temple and another in her breast. Almost simultaneously a woman who rented a room at the rear ol the shop found the dead body of a man—who is believed to be Joseph Aloysios Pascoe (54), husband of the dead woman —in a bedroom. The shooting had apparently taken place in the kitchen, and after being wounded Airs Pascoe evidently staggered into the simp, where she fell dead. Pascoe was formerly a miner at Broken Hill, and at different times, through disagreements, is said to have lived apart from his wile, who was assisted in the shop by a son and daughter of a former marriage. The police have been informed thsu Pascoe had threatened to kill his wife.
