Wellington
April 10
The fact that the War Pensions Appeal Hoard will cease to receive applications for appeal after 15th May, formed the subject of a discussion at a recent meeting of the executive of the standing sub-committee of the Returned Soldiers’ Association. Eventually it was resolved: “That since the present War Pensions Appeal Board lias never fulfilled the object which the Associnion had in view in asking for the setting up of a war pensions Appeal Board, no action he taken other than to press for the setting up of an appeal board to consider war pension appeals on general grounds (including medical). Recently the Minister-in-charge of reparation, advised the Association that applications for advances to soldiers under the Repatriation Act would not he received after June 30th. The Association is endeavouring to have this date extended a further twelve months, but without success. While urging all intending uprlifarts to lodge their applications with the Repatriation Department at the earliest <i>:*)ort unity, it wishes to he known that all men in hospital undergoing treatment for war injuries on 30th June will he able to apply for advances under the Repatriation Act 1918, at the earliest favourable opportunity after their discharge from the institution.
