Tin? Praciiqiie Court has granted to Rev. Father Barry, the Administrator of tin* Roman Catholic Arch-Diocese of Melbourne a rule nisi, calling upon the Melbourne City Council to show cause why its present By-law regarding tile street processions should not
be quashed. ■ The application arose out of the prosecution by the City Council of some of the participants in the recent St Patrick’s Ba v ‘procession.

LOSS’S appeal. DISMISSED BY HIGH COURT. SYDNEY, April 5. The High Court b.V a majority verdict ef four to one, has refused Ross leave to appeal against his conviction for the murder of Alma Tritsclike. Justice Isaacs dissented. He held, without hesitation, that there should be a new trial. Xo other avenue of appeal is now open to Ross.
