LISBON, Edi. It. The British Government has given full explanations to the Portuguese Government of the tact that the British warships in the River Tagus did not decorate with flags on January 31, stating that the British Admiralty was unaware that the date was one of the Republic’s national holidays. It appears that all the ships in the Tagus on January 31 decorated their masts with the exception of some British warships. According to the Lisbon newspapers, the commander informed the naval authorities that the British ships would not join in nny political manifestations.
