ARM l VOTE. WASHINGTON, March 20. The’ House passed‘ the 575 million dollars Army Appropriation Bill, and approving of a reduction of the Army to 115,000 men, and eleven thousand officers.
FATTY AH BUCKLE’S TRIAL. NEW r YORK, March 29
The prosecution of Arbnckle for the third time at San Francisco is nearing completion. The only new evidence is the testimony of the Secretary of the hospital, where Miss Ra-ppe died, who declared that Miss Rappe told her Arbnckle should pay the hospital hill, because she blamed him for the injury.

Senator France, who was the only one to vote against the ratification of tht Naval Treaty, said it is not easy to mar the beautiful picture of a unanimous ratification, but be believed thereby he served the people’s welfare. He did not want tci see disarmament or the disappearance of navies until means were found to remedy international wrongs. Senator Borah followed. He asserted his ‘thankfulness for the degree of naval disarmament achieved. He did not doubt it was the utmost possible at the recent conference, hut he warned th'e world that they must not accept as completed the programme which was only beginning. Public opinion brought the conferenct about. W r e must continue holding the opinion in favour of further disarmament.

The United States House of ilcpresentatives has passed a Bill for extending 25 years’ grace to Austria iii connection with the payment of the 24 million dollar loan for which Austria. contracted for the purchase of wheat. The Senate has already approved of this concession.

The State Department is awaiting consular reports concerning the arrett in New Orleans of Erie Harbld Me Bride and Maggie Mcßride at the request of the Australian Government, on charges of forging stock transfers in Melbourne. On receipt of reports Mr Hughes will decide whether the pair can be extradited. SIAMESE TWINS DIE. Received Tins Dav at. 9.5 a.m i NEW YORK, March 30. The Siamese Twins at Chicago cabled on the 28th. died fifteen minutes apart.
