('Our own correspondent.) Several days ago while returning from South Constable Kennedy had the misfortune to meet with rather a painful accident. While cycling the front forks of his bicycle snapped off with the result that he received a very nasty fall, dislocating his shoulder and receiving some severe bruises. Constable Kennedy was convleved to town by Mr Mitchell’s trap and was later conveyed to the Hokitika Hospital where his injuries were attended to. He is now progressing favourably, but it will be several weeks yet lsefore his recovery is complete. Take several of the northedn centres Ross now possesses a Cycling Several road races have taken place during th'e last week or two and have created considerable interest. Several residents have donated prizes for these races and Mr T>. Roberts has kindly presented a gold medal to be awarded to the competitor scoring the uiost points over a series of races. A further race will eventuate on Saturday next, the course being to the Totara sawmill and hack (about o. miles). The entries for the rac-o are as follows:—J. chapman scr., N.
