Hokitika \ collision took place shortly before noon to-day on the Kanieri road at the intersection with Davie Street between Clements Motors mail car driven by Mr Fred Panunent and a motor cycle ridden by Mr G. Adamson jum. The c ar was on the way south with the mail and six passengers. When at the intersection of the street mentioned Adamson on the motor cycle came down Davie Street hill, and at the intersection car and cycle came together in spite of the ear driver swerving smartly to the f«r s 'de of the road. The 'result was that the motor cycle was badly smashed tip, while tiie front of the motor car including the radiator was considerably damaged. Luckily the ridei of the Cycle escaped an y serious injury. Kve witnesses state that had it not been for the promptitude of the driver of the ear in swerving outwards promptly, the motor cycle would have struck the car head- on with far. .more serious results to the rider at least, as it was he struck the car in a semigliding contact. The passengers and mails were at once loaded into another of the firm’s ears and proceeded on the south journey, the other car being towed back to the town, while the motor' cycle had a ride in on a dray.
