After investigating the . Russian famine Sir James Allen appeals to Netv Zealanders for continued help. “I want to assurte New Zealand thaf the money will be well spent.” Sir James suggests that contributions might be made to a general fund, instead of the children’s fund, because it is futile saving the children Unless some of the adults live to "sott the crops. New Zealand kitchens are operating at Saratov, and arrangements are being made to designate them “Oamani” and ■ Dunedin.” Hie says that other towns subscribing £IOO will be similarly advertised. .
In connection with the above a subs"'notion list is now open at the County Office, Hokitika, where funds are being received. It was intended to close the : -t this wfeekj but irt view of Sir James Allen’s appeal for continued help, the list will he kept open till Easter Eve. Subscriptions forwarded will be duly acknowledged through this newspaper.
