WATAROA AUTUMN SALE

On Wednesday last Messrs W. J e f* fries and Co. held their annual lutuuui sale of stock. The yarding comprised 130 head of cattle and 200 sheep. Owing to flooded rivers the advertised entry of sheep was not present, and these were' disposed of after the sale, privately. There was a representative attendance of buyers present, and the prices recorded testify to the firmness of this centre for tlio disposal of all classes of stock. The bulk of the cattle yarded were forward lines up to 21 years, principally He refords, and competition for this class was keen, a total clearance being made. Steers making up to £/ 2s each, and heifers to £5 15s. One or two pens of fats made better prices. Sheep, especially breeding ewes, sold well, while fats were equal to Arahura prices. The following sales were made:

.Sheep.-—On account Messrs Gibb Bros., twenty 4-tooth breeding ewes at 16s 6d; thirty fat wethers at 19s 6d; thirty-nine ditto at 18s 6d, and forty ditto at 17s Gd. On account Mr R. Thompson, twenty-two fat wethers at 19s and six fat ewes at 16s. On account Mr J. Condon, one hundred and twenty one fat ewes at 16s, and one hundred and twelve fat wethers at 19s. On account W. Gunn, one hundred ewes with lambs at 20s. Cattle.—On account A. Mcßride, five heifers at £4 15s; on account F. He veldt, four 21 steers at £5 ss, five 2 year steers at £4 ss, three cows at £4 10s • on account W. Gunn, nine forward steers at £6; on account R. Thompson, three 21 sters at £5 4s 6., eight fat heifers at £7 , one fat cow at £6; on account James Nolan, ten forward 21 steers at £6 12s 6d, ten ditto at £6; on account E. Cron’, twelve 21 steers at £7 2s, three ditto at £6 6s, eleven ditto at £5 14s, ten ditto at £6, fifteen 21 heifers at £4 15s, thirteen ditto at £4 8s 6d; on account "Walsh Bros, three dry cows at £4 2s 6d. The gracing lease of Section 2669 and MOL. 427 of 200 acres at the lyaitangi to 31st March, 1923, was sold for £6L The lease of the Okarito Lagoon Run J was passed in, at £l9.
