1 Food and Hygiene. j To all interested it has been clear ! for a considerable time that in spite of almost every advantage in fresh air, plenty of space, the best of food materials, the health of the children • of New Zealand is far below normal; and this state of affairs is not confined , to the poor. Often not scarcity but improper food and bad hygiene have produced this malnutrition. It is ignorance rather than indifference that is the factor. Yet up till recently the teaching of Home Science in this country had not reached the stage where it directly touched the young child in tho habit-forming age, 'or the parents responsible for that habit formation.
