As a fact, the performer th o champion solo cornetist of Australia Mr Arthur P. Stender, who is a member of the Collingwood Band and came over to New Zealand under engagement as professional cornet playei U the Wellington W ate r side i. Brass Band, and played m that cecity at the recent contest ill the l north, incidentally winning the cornet solo competition from twenty-five otae.s Though Mr Stender is only twenty two years old he has won the Austi linn championship three times. He is making a holiday tour of New Zealand and was .... his way from Mount Cook to Dunedin when he was so unexpectedly called on to prove himself in the railway carriage.
