CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their slock sale yesterday :

Store Sheep—The largest yarding of the season and all classes of sheep sold well. Best sound mouth ewes, from ]Bs to 235; others from 13s to lbs 6d ■ best wethers from 14s to 17s; best rapo lambs from 14s to 17s, others 10s to 12s. In our opinion the market, throughout was firmer. Store Cattle—A larger entry than for the last few weeks and mostly good sorts. The demand was generally good. 3 year old steers sold to £6 7s 6d; 2year ditto £3 15s to £4 ss; yearling 30s Id to 33s 6d; yearling heifers 30b to 455; good fresh cows 40s to 555; others 15s to 30s.

Beef—An overflow entry and far too many for butchers requirements. Some really excellent quality was offered, hut all classes opened easier than last week, especially for medium and inferior sorts and towards the finish sales were hard to make, and several lotß were passed at auction. Prime steers £9 10s to £l4; extra to £l6; medium ',£7 5s to £9 15s; prime heifers £5. ho £8 extra to £9 12s 6d; others £3 5s to £5; prime cows £5 to £7 15s; others £2 15s to £4 15s. Mutton—A fair yarding mostly ewes. The market generally was firm at last week’.s rates. There was no really quotable alteration, except for heavy ewes, which were perhaps slightly better. Freezing buyers were operating keenly for light and medium ewes. Prime wethers 20s to 255; extra to 31s 3d; medium 17s to 19s 6d; prime ewes 14s to 17s ; extra to 21s 3d; others 10s 6d to 13s. Lambs were considerably firmer making about 7/d over all.
