It is understood an, important change is about to be mad© in the conduct of the general licensing elections in the future. As a matter of departmental policy the conduct of these elections, including the registration of electors, is to b e transferred from the courts where, the work hitherto has been done principally to ' the post offices. For the Westland • electorate, Mr Coles, Postmaster, will be appointed Registrar of Electors and Returning Officer, and the postal-service will be used as largely as possible in the conduct of the electoral work. As this is election year, the polls taking place approximately in- December next, a large amount of work will be entailed on the Postal Department immediately.
